Taking the kids out for a nice dinner often brings to mind irritated servers and frustrated dining patrons. However, it doesn’t have to be this way. What you need is a strategically chosen location for your meal.

Here are our picks for some of the most kid-friendly restaurants in Bethesda, Maryland. Let’s get started!

Bold Bite

Kids can be picky eaters, but there are a lot of delicious options at Bold Bite. Their offerings are quite diverse and easily customized for any palette.  On any burger, you can get beef, chicken, falafel, or the famous DC half beef, half pork sausages. They have salads as well if you’re looking for something a little more green.

They also have milkshakes and fries, which are big hits with kids of any age, along with a decent kids menu for kids 10 & under. It offers a hot dog, grilled cheese, or little burger with small fries, and a drink.

We highly recommend the Strawberry Shortcake milkshake. It has poundcake in it and that’s one of the most exciting things we’ve ever heard.

Uncle Julio’s Rio Grande

Mexican food is one of the best ways to bring the whole family together. Uncle Julio’s is a chain that has locations all over the country, which can have its advantages. Their kid’s has chicken tenders for picky kids, but they have Kidsadillas and kid-sized servings of fajitas.

The atmosphere of the restaurant is pretty loud, which is good for kids that might start fussing. However, it may be a little intense for kids that prefer the quiet.

For adults, there are plenty of authentic Mexican options including tacos, fajitas, and enchiladas. They also have cocktails of all kinds and after 5pm they’ll make you a margarita right at your table. They are available without alcohol if you like.

Raku

Though your kids may not eat raw sushi, dumplings and soup are a big hit. Raku also has a wide variety of bento boxes with everything from Ribeye to a shrimp & veggie box. They have sushi and entrees for older kids and adults. There’s plenty to satisfy for patrons of all ages.

Their atmosphere, like Uncle Julio’s, is also quite boisterous. Therefore, crying babies and screaming toddlers will cause less of a ruckus than you might think. That being said, it’s often busy and sensitive kids may not have as much fun. Raku also has chopsticks that work with diners of every size; it’s never too early to learn how to use them.
